Don't worry too much because if you cut the bearing it will soon become obvious.

GerryThe Incredible Hullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01526916576383325077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5473206619510995977.post-59241265297785937842010-06-19T23:47:11.555-07:002010-06-19T23:47:11.555-07:00It is possible that exists a screw under the fiber...It is possible that exists a screw under the fiberglass ? in the http://downeasteryachts.com/info-index/engine/cutlass-bearing-replacement post says that this is an option ?

Thanks,

Dave.Seafoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18293135548211009711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5473206619510995977.post-20661447030765724342010-06-19T23:09:26.850-07:002010-06-19T23:09:26.850-07:00Thanks Gerry !

The W42 is similar.

http://downeasteryachts.com/info-index/engine/cutlass-bearing-replacement

1. Remove the propeller and shaft.
2. Clean the sides and look for two small screw holes(one each side). These are retaining screws and may or may not be installed.
3. If a little piece of the cutlass bearing is sticking out you may be able to grab it with a pipe wrench and twist it out (this is unlikely).
4. If not, cut along the full length of the cutlass bearing with a hacksaw (its bronze) and then collapse it into itself using a chisel. Try and not cut into the stern tube.
5. Its not as bad as it sounds. The Incredible Hullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01526916576383325077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5473206619510995977.post-33850089301722762562010-06-19T04:09:12.323-07:002010-06-19T04:09:12.323-07:00Hi Gerry,
