The sea chest is installed with fractions of an inch to spare. Almost looks like it was planned. The handle of the emergence shut of valve (upper left) will normally be removed but secured nearby. If and when the sea-chest leaks and causes reduced cooling water flow to the engine it can be use to isolate the supply.

Very nice. You have convinced me to do the same on the Westsail. Say, what kind of head is on the intake thrru-hull? Flush? Mushroom? Strainer/scoop?
Simple mushroom with round strainer over it. I may swap it out for a scoop type (just remember to install it with inlets facing backwards).
Great job as always. I will have two stand pipes coming above the waterline straight off the large seacocks, with a right angled filter and then manifold as a "sea chest". The tops of the stand pipes will have removable caps with the view to being able to clean the whole assembly with a pipe brush while the seacock is open. I didn't consider a screen at the flush hull intake .If you have time I would welcome your thoughts?

Love your blog, amazing project. I think a screen is necessary on a main sea water intake, especially as we seem hell bent on dumping more plastic bags into the ocean.
